The cost of an Alaskan King bed varies depending on where you buy it and the materials used. A basic foam-only mattress can start at around $3,500 and a hybrid mattress with foam, latex or coils costs around $4,000 to $5,000 but may be higher — some manufacturers make premium Alaskan King beds as high as $11,000! The price will also depend on any upgrades, such as a cashmere cover versus cotton.

Keep in mind that there may be extra shipping charges when it comes to Alaskan Kings; we've seen some as high as $2,000, while others offer free shipping. Also, you'll likely need a frame and all new bedding which can get pricey for oversized mattresses.

✔️ Amount of space. When shopping for a new mattress — especially one of this size — sure to check the size of the space where you’ll be putting the bed: You’ll want enough room for the entire bed, plus room for the frame and enough space around it to maneuver. If you don’t think you’ll have enough space, you may want to opt for a Texas King or Wyoming King, which are smaller than the Alaskan King but larger than a California King or King size mattress.

Unlike mattresses sold from popular retailers, the return policy and warranties for Alaskan King beds may not be as generous since they are made to order and expensive to ship. Be sure to check the store’s return policy and warranty if you’re unsure about the mattress: Some retailers require you to pay for return shipping.

✔️ Building and shipping time. Many Alaskan King beds are made to order or custom built, so when you order, it may take an extra few weeks to build depending on the brand. Because these mattresses are bulky to ship or deliver, many companies claim that shipping could be anywhere from six days to six weeks, so make sure to plan accordingly.
