Prime Day is not always the best time to shop for a new mattress. Only a handful of the best mattress brands sell through Amazon, so you're mostly dealing with price drops on unknown products that might be awesome, but might just as easily be awful. Of the brands that do sell though Amazon, most price-match of their own site. Not this year though! 2022's best Prime Day deals include some major price drops from Emma and Simba, for the first time in a while a few are much cheaper via Amazon than on the brands' own sites.

I monitor mattress prices all year round, so I know a good deal when I see one (not always straightforward when offers are so frequent). Scroll down for the deals worth taking advantage of this year. There are also some decent Prime Day price drops from the likes of Silentnight and Dormeo (opens in new tab) that might be worth checking out.

You do need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber to take advantage of these offers, but you can still access them via the free 30-day trial. If it doesn't suit you, you can cancel during that period to avoid being charged. Sign up to Prime here (opens in new tab) .

For some alternatives, check out our cheap mattress deal roundup for the best prices on a range of brands, or head to our Emma mattress sales or Simba mattress sales pages for a look at the kind of offers we typically get from these brands.

Simba Hybrid Original deal | 45% off all sizes at Amazon (opens in new tab) or 40% off direct from Simba (opens in new tab) The Simba Hybrid is a 5-layer hybrid containing layers of springs and foams (crucially, not memory foam, so you won't get that quicksand feeling). In our 4* Simba Hybrid Original review (opens in new tab) , we were impressed with the comfort, support and temperature-regulation.

Is it a good deal? Yes. 40% off deals are pretty common, but we historically never see 45% off deals outside of Black Friday and the Xmas sales period. With this offer, a UK Double is £549.45 (usually just under £1k).

Should I buy it? Although it is very comfy, it's not quite as good as its fancier range-mates, the Pro and Luxe, with higher price tags. Check out the deals on those below, or see how the designs differ here (opens in new tab) .)

Simba Hybrid Essential deal | 40% off at Simba (opens in new tab) or up to 45% off at Amazon (opens in new tab) The cheapest of Simba's hybrids, the Essential has a pared-back design that still includes many of the same materials you'll find in Simba's pricier offerings, including Aerocoil microsprings and cooling Simbatex foam.

Is it a good deal? Think so. The Essential only joined Simba's official range in early 2022, so we don't have the deal history on this one that we do with the others, but typically a 45% off discount is rare. A Double is £455.95 with this offer.

Should I buy it? If price is your priority, and you want a Single or Double, yes. We haven't had a chance to review this one yet, but you're getting high-end materials at a lower price.

Emma Hybrid mattress | 50% off  the Super King, 20% off other sizes at Amazon (opens in new tab) The Emma Hybrid is similar to the brand's ultra-popular original, but with a layer of small springs added in. These are so short that you can't really feel them, so the overall feel is similar to the Original. It's a memory foam mattress with a softer feel that's super soothing and great for side sleepers. Head to our Emma Hybrid mattress review (opens in new tab) for more on what we thought.

Is it a good deal? Yes. Percentage discounts are typically much higher at Emma direct, but that's skewed by changing RRPs. Plus, you can no longer buy this model there, and for most sizes it's actually cheaper than the Original.

Should I buy it? Yes, if you fancy an Emma mattress, this is the cheapest way to do it. In terms of feel, it's extremely similar to the Original, and that one is pricier on most sizes. You should definitely go for it if you want a Super King – £514.50 is super cheap for that size.

Emma Original mattress | up to 50% off at Amazon (opens in new tab) | 50% off at Emma (opens in new tab) We think this is the best memory foam mattress (opens in new tab) you can buy. It's a straightforward, soothing and pressure relieving foam design, which you can read more about it in our Emma Original mattress review (opens in new tab) .

Is it a good deal? £348.50 is technically the lowest price we've seen on the Original Double this year, but it has been £349.50 at Emma since March, so it's not exactly a rare bargain. Double-check whether your size is cheaper at Emma or Amazon before buying.

Should I buy it? Hmm... the feel is extremely similar to the Emma Hybrid (opens in new tab) , and that is cheaper on most sizes, so bear than in mind when making your decision. If you tend to sleep hot, be aware that Emma mattresses can trap heat a little, so you might want to explore the Simbas – these regulate body temperature better.

Simba Premium Foam mattress | up to 35% off all sizes at Amazon (opens in new tab)  or  35% off at Simba (opens in new tab) This budget-friendly mattress has two layers of foam – a comfortable, cooling upper layer and zoned foam base for support, all topped off with a knitted cover.

Is it a good deal? This one's been on Amazon for a while, but only recently has it been added to the official Simba lineup. It looks like it's a deal that crops up fairly regularly, but is very rarely bettered. A UK Double is £273 with this deal.

Should I buy it? We haven't tested it, but we are big fans of the rest of Simba's range. If you want a Simba but don't need springs, this could be a good choice. Be aware it's not super deep (18cm tall) – some reviewers found it a bit too shallow. If you do buy, we'd always say to go direct from Simba if the price is the same.

Simba Hybrid Luxe deal | 40% off at Simba (opens in new tab) or up to 35% off at Amazon (opens in new tab) Sitting at the very priciest, most luxurious end of Simba's range is the outstanding Hybrid Luxe. This mega-mattress has 10 layers of springs and foams, giving you all the comfort and support you could dream of. Head to our Simba Hybrid Luxe review (opens in new tab) to find out more.

Is it a good deal? Yes. This mattress did go cheaper over Black Friday and the winter sales last year, but outside of that period it's an excellent price.

Should I buy it? If you can afford it, yes. We love this mattress.

Silentnight 1400 Eco Comfort mattress: up to 49% off at Amazon (opens in new tab) The Silentnight 1400 Eco Comfort mattress is up to 50% off this Prime Day (the best deals seem to be on the doubles). There's no foam to speak of here; instead, there's eco friendly comfort material layered on top of motion-isolating springs. We've tested Silentngight's Eco range in the past and have been impressed, and this one comes very well reviewed too.

Simba Comfort mattress: 35% off all sizes at Amazon (opens in new tab) Not sold at Simba direct, the Comfort is a budget-friendly, foam-only mattress with 35% off for Prime subscribers today only. We haven't had a chance to test this one out, but it's designed to regulate temperature like its pricier siblings, and the base is zoned for custom support where you need it.
